The biggest Christmas tree in the world
The Christmas tree from the town of Gubbio in the province of Perugia in the Umbria region is the largest Christmas tree in the world. It is a unique light installation that dominates Gubbio from the hill of Ingino.
The more than 250 green light points trace the outlines of a Christmas tree 650 metres tall. Inside the Christmas tree there are also more than 300 coloured lights and the star at the top of the Christmas tree from Gubbio consists of 200 lights.
In 1991, the Guinness Book of Records named Gubbio’s big Christmas tree the “world’s biggest Christmas tree”! The Gubbio Christmas tree is switched on every year on 7 December and remains lit for 30 days.
